Something Different

At the beginning of the month, Emmy started running a free-for-all contest. I wasn't originally going to join. I've found that focusing on a single project gives you the best chance of completing it, and I've stayed exclusively with TUAH for the past year (and then some). But I've had this idea for a short game pop into my brain several times and the contest runs for an entire month.

So, I've squirreled away a few free moments and started on a short entry game. Because of my impending move, I don't know whether I will be able to finish it before the contest deadline, but I do plan on completing the whole game this year.

The project will be an adventure game with a few puzzles and a fun synthesis/crafting element. The rest of the detail will remain a secret until I can produce a playable demo. If any of you anticipate some free time in the coming weeks and are interested in being a beta-tester, please let me know!

  1. I have free time between monday-thursdays because that's when I'm not working. So if you need somebody, feel free to hit me up! I'll be glad to.

  2. Awesome! I will message you when I have the content done.

I was really hoping to get it done for the contest, but my video card died on me and that really slowed things down. :(

  3. Aw man! I was really looking forward to playing your entry...
I'd love to be a beta tester for you, if this game is still in the works ;).

If you find some time, please try out my game for the contest called "Flawless Perspective". I'd love to have your opinion on it.

  4. My video card died just before the entries were due, so I didn't get a chance to finish it. But that just gives me more of an opportunity to polish and finish up the rest of it. I think it will be released as a complete game very soon (or as soon as I get my new video card proper).

I've downloaded your entry and I'll be sure to check it out asap. :3

  5. Hey thanks! There's also quite a few other neat entries in the contest; I suggest looking through them and seeing if any interest you ;) I've tried them all and I can say I've learned at least something from all of them.

I'm not as competent with graphics or scripts as most veterans like you are but I have great confidence in my writing and eventing skills! As its more of a puzzle mystery than anything else I challenge you to play through the game without opening the editor. I realize that you may not have the time (or the patience, because hey, my game is kind of a niche and doesn't suit everyone) at least take a look at the editor for some ideas for your project ;)

    Thanks again for your support!

  6. Warning: its been almost a month since your last blog post! Where have you been?
